The physicians and staff at Lowcountry Medical Associates are dedicated to our community and strive to always give back to the Charleston-metro region through community service and stewardship. This section of our Web site is dedicated to information about events that we coordinate and support. In 2007 LMA contributed a total of $27,000 to the community.
Our contributions included participation with the Lowcountry Heart Walk, Roper Xavier Society, the foundation arm of Roper St. Francis Healthcare, The Charleston Miracle League, Patti son's Academy, and East Cooper Community Outreach.

The American Heart Association recognized LMA as one of the top 10 corporate fund-raisers for the Lowcountry Heartwalk. Through the combined efforts of our physicians, clinical staff, and employees, LMA raised $12,000 for this annual event.

LMA hosted its inaugural Blood Drive in June with a successful drive of 30 productive units and 45 donors. The mobile blood unit came to The Tides Medical Arts Center, Mount Pleasant where two LMA practices, the administrative office, and our Ancillary Service Center are located.

The LMA benefit golf tournament held October 30 raised more than $15,000 to be donated to several organizations in Charleston. The LMA Links Health Care Golf Tournament hosted at The Links of Stono Ferry presented its proceeds in November. The Community Relations Committee identifies recipients each year for this event that will improve health care access and positively impact families and citizens.

The 7th Annual Primary Care Symposium was held December 2, 2007 for LMA physicians and community physicians. This accredited educational program had 10 faculty members providing their medical expertise in treatment updates pertaining to diabetes, infection management, mental and behavioral health, spine care, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The pediatric track provided medical news and updates in genetics and developmental disabilities, vaccine updates, and autism spectrum disorders. The program was held at The Country Club of Charleston.

In 2006 LMA contributed a total of $33,000 to the community.
Our contributions included participation with the American Heart Association, Muscular Dystrophy, Coastal Community Foundation, and Roper St. Francis Foundation.

LMA executives serve on the newly formed Charleston Area Health Council that combines employers, government, insurers, hospitals, The Charleston Regional Business Journal, and the Trident United Way in a task force to improve health care delivery.

LMA was recognized by the American Heart Association as a top fund-raiser for the Lowcountry Heartwalk for business with less than 500 employees. In addition to the donations made by LMA participants and walkers, LMA was a bronze sponsor for the event. LMA raised over $10,000 in donations for the November event.

The LMA benefit golf tournament held September 14, 2006 raised over $10,000 to be returned back to the community. The inaugural LMA Links Health Care Golf Tournament hosted at The Links of Stono Ferry presented its proceeds in October to the Roper St. Francis Foundation and the the Coastal Community Foundation. These proceeds are directed to improve access to health care in the Lowcountry. LMA will host the 2nd Annual LMA Links Health Care Golf Tournament on September 20, 2007.

LMA was the preferred medical provider for the inaugural Palmetto Pride Golf Classic at Daniel Island, Oct 16-22, 2006. This PGA event will return each year to Daniel Island. LMA in conjunction with Emergency Medical Transport Services ensured the safety and health care needs of the golfers, gallery, and volunteers for the duration of the tournament.
